New Delhi: Infinix India has entered the Indian esports space through a partnership with BGMI team True Rippers. As part of the collaboration, the team will now play under the name Infinix True Rippers, marking the smartphone brand’s first formal engagement with a professional esports team.

The partnership aligns with Infinix’s broader interest in India’s growing gaming ecosystem. The collaboration precedes the launch of the GT 30 Pro, a new smartphone model aimed at gaming users, scheduled to debut on June 3. The device is certified by BGMI publisher Krafton to support 120 FPS gameplay and includes dual gaming shoulder triggers—a feature the company says is a first in its segment.

Anish Kapoor, CEO at Infinix India, said, “At Infinix, we’re not just witnessing the gaming revolution—we're driving it. Teams like True Rippers are the driving force behind India’s growing Esports culture. Our collaboration is rooted in a shared belief—that gaming in India is more than just play; it’s a powerful aspiration for the youth.”

He added: “Today’s gamers aren’t just looking for entertainment; they’re driven by recognition, purpose, and identity. We're proud to be among the first brands in the industry taking active steps to encourage aspiring esports athletes—empowering young gamers with products and initiatives that would be a testament to fulfilling our mission to support esports in India.”

The team is currently competing in Krafton’s invite-only BGMI Pro Series (BMPS) 2025, and recently placed sixth in the BGMI India Series (BGIS) held in Kolkata. The grand finale of BMPS is set to take place in New Delhi next month.

In addition to tournament play, the collaboration includes ongoing co-creation and marketing engagement between True Rippers and Infinix, focusing on performance-centric smartphone launches.

Yashwanth AR, CEO at True Rippers, said, “At True Rippers, we’re not just focused on building one of the best BGMI lineups in the country. ”

The current Infinix True Rippers roster includes Gunjan Thakur (Jelly), Swaraj Singh (KioLmao), Ngurang Takar (Ninzae), and Samuel Nabam (SAM).

According to data from Niko Partners, India had 454 million gamers in 2023, with projections estimating the number will rise to over 730 million by 2028. BGMI remains a central part of this ecosystem. The recent BGIS 2025 tournament recorded a peak concurrent viewership of over 485,000 and 9.4 million watch hours, according to Esports Charts.

The new partnership aims to position the Infinix True Rippers at the convergence of competitive gaming and consumer tech, as esports continues to expand in India.
