Delhi: Asian Paints honoured the memory of Hanif Kureshi, the Artistic Director and Co-founder of St+art India Foundation.

The company said, “Through his efforts, he brought street art to the forefront by co-founding St+art India Foundation, XXL Collective, Gallery XXL, and Guerrilla Art & Design, contributing immensely to the democratization of art. His powerful work with typography and passion for transforming everyday environments into vibrant canvases of expression made him a true pioneer. His commitment to making art accessible to all was not just his vision, but his life's mission, one he fulfilled with boundless energy and creativity.”

From Mumbai to Delhi, Kolkata to Chennai, Hanif's work adorned urban landscapes, turning walls and streets into platforms for community-driven storytelling, artistic expression, and cultural celebration.

Not known to many, Hanif was also Daku, whose murals often carried social commentary and critiques of political issues.

Speaking on his profound impact, Amit Syngle, Managing Director and CEO of Asian Paints, shared, "As we reflect on his legacy, we remember Hanif as a fearless innovator whose commitment to artistic integrity & cultural richness will continue to inspire us. Hanif’s artistic genius redefined how we see and experience public spaces. His pivotal role in our collaboration gave it the scale it needed, helping to shape a creative language that made art accessible to all."

Among Hanif's many contributions were his role in major public art projects, including the Lodhi Art District in Delhi, which became India’s first public art district.
