Delhi: If your day could be a series of songs, what would they be? Would it be Dard-e-disco on repeat? Or will Taylor Swift make her teary cameos in between?

Spotify users need not wonder anymore as the Daylight feature does the song thinking for you.

Launched in September 2023, Daylist offers playlists that change throughout the day. Originally available in the US, Canada, the UK, Australia, New Zealand, and Ireland, it is now accessible to both free and premium Spotify users on mobile, web, and desktop. In March 2024, the feature expanded to India.

Think, 'A Day In The Life Of' but music?

The music streaming platform has partnered with rapper Badshah to showcase the rapper’s ‘daylist’.

The film shows Badshah describing his day through the daylist Spotify created for him throughout the day.

From relaxing yoga fusion rap to angry heavy metal, from baddie bop to lonely sadboi: the rapper's daylist has it all.

This is not the first time Spotify has leveraged celebrities for promotion.

Telugu and Tamil music composer, playback singer, actor, and producer GV Prakash Kumar, along with internet personality Sameeha Mariam, also reviewed their Daylist and song preferences based on their moods in a YouTube video.

Leveraging the reach of influencers to promote their Daylist feature, Spotify has collaborated with Sakshi Shivadasani, Kareema Barry, Dharna Durga, and Delnaaz Irani.

How does it work?

Daylist analyses an individual's music listening patterns, recommending relevant tracks tailored to specific days and times, updating between every sunrise and sunset. Each user receives a personalised playlist, unique to their preferences.
