Equitas Small Finance Bank has launched a new campaign as part of its video series called "Circle of Life" – featuring the story of one Sajitha Begum.
Through the "Circle of Life" campaign, Equitas SFB aims to shed light on her journey of becoming a bank herself. Begum runs an eatery and works as a Business Correspondent at Equitas SFB.
Amidst the Covid-19 pandemic, she ensured that banking services were available to the unbanked, providing essential financial and social support to those in need.
Begum’s journey began with her husband's unfortunate demise due to cancer, which led her to start cooking meals for five boys in her community. Her venture quickly expanded but was facing difficulty in making ends meet. She was approached by Venugopal Venu, a senior banker with Equitas SFB, who offered her an Equitas machine and suggested she become a business correspondent with the bank.
She has since been instrumental in helping people in her community and also aided many in obtaining loans ranging from Rs 30,000 to 50,000.
Vignesh Murali, Senior Vice-President and Head – Marketing, Equitas SFB, said, “We are thrilled to launch the latest edition of our 'Circle of Life' campaign featuring Sajitha Begum's inspiring journey. Sajitha's story is a powerful example of how access to banking services can transform lives and empower individuals and communities.
