Mpower anthem ‘Zindagi Ko Hi5' motivates all to be more open towards their mental well-being

Released with a mission to raise awareness about celebrating life and encourage help-seeking behaviour, Mpower anthem ‘Zindagi Ko Hi5’ featuring Arijit Singh has reached more than 16 million people following its launch earlier this month.

The song was released on Mpower’s social media pages on World Suicide Prevention Day. Mpower’s ‘Zindagi Ko Hi5’ campaign endeavours to motivate citizens to open up if they have a hint of an issue regarding their mental well-being.

The video initially depicts survivors in despair experiencing their weak moments. But eventually, they choose life over an extreme and irreversible step. Each of them is finally cherishing moments of calmness, indulging in mentally stimulating activities, and spending time with the loved ones. The messaging behind ‘Zindagi Ko Hi5’ was well brought out in the video through thought-provoking lyrics and visuals that aimed to inspire individuals to celebrate life’s precious moments. Through the video, Mpower, the mental healthcare organisation, backed by Aditya Birla Education Trust, was able to send out a strong message that “The answer is a reason. A reason to fight. A reason to change the story. A reason to Hi-5 Zindagi.”

The lyrics for ‘Zindagi Ko Hi5’ have been penned by Amitabh Bhattacharya, sung by Arijit Singh, music has been composed, produced and arranged by Sunny MR, bass, electric and acoustic guitars played by Roland Fernandes, mixed and mastered by Shadab Rayeen and assisted by Abhishek Sortey.

Neerja Birla, Founder and Chairperson, Mpower, said, “The last 18 months or so have been remarkably challenging and with ‘Zindagi Ko Hi5’, we want to tell everyone that life is full of possibilities. When we conceptualised the campaign, our aim was to encourage people to celebrate every moment in life. Having Arijit Singh join hands in our mission and lend his voice to the campaign was a great boost to our efforts. In just under two weeks, we have been able to touch more than 16 million lives, and as we continue to create awareness on mental wellness, I am confident it will convey a relevant message to people when it comes to making the right choices above their lives.”

Mpower aims to bring about a cultural shift and a mind-set change among people by addressing misconceptions, fostering positive attitudes, disseminating correct information, and alleviating stigma related to mental illnesses. Mpower deploys a series year-around activities and tools such as community cycle rides, professional conclaves, music fests, creative social media campaigns, student-led mental health fests, thought-provoking videos, community-led wall paintings, hard-hitting statistics, etc., to break the clutter and enable the masses to take the stigma head-on.
