A recent parody video created by Pocket Aces’ FilterCopy for Shaadi.com has imitated the drama that played out on television news channels including Republic Bharat during the recent Biparjoy cyclone.
In the video, a man dressed as a female anchor in a newsroom is shown narrating the loneliness and plight of the single man Deepak in the monsoon season. He is seen holding an umbrella in the newsroom and swaying due to the artificial gusty winds similar to Republic Bharat anchor Shweta and talking about how Shaadi.com can help single people not feel lonely during rain by finding them the right partner.
This seems like an apt dig on news channels for dramatising the plight of thousands of people who had to go through hardships during the cyclone.
Last month, a video from Republic TV’s coverage of cyclone Biparjoy became a laughing stock on social media. Its anchor Shweta was caught trivialising the expected landfall of cyclone Biparjoy. She dramatised the impact of the cyclone in the news studio by holding an umbrella and swaying due to the impact of cyclone winds.
